What is Power Up?

Power Up is an internship program designed to provide emerging youth leaders who participated in the Solidarity Semester program with internships at social justice organizations addressing the most critical issues of our time, from racial justice to immigrant rights. 

What can I gain from participating in Power Up internships?

  • A Pathway to the Nonprofit Sector: You’ll learn what it’s like to work with nonprofit organizations and about issues that are affecting communities around the country. 

  • A Toolbox: You’ll gain field experiences and skills around research, writing, and communications that will advance your understanding and commitment to social justice work.

  • A Community of Practice: You’ll have a weekly check-in with all interns who are part of the Power Up program and the Building Movement Project | SolidarityIs team.

What Is the eligibility criteria?

To apply for the Power Up Internship Program, you must:

  •     Participate in the Solidarity Semester (Register here.) You can either attend each session live or access the recordings. If you are unable to join the session live, register to receive email updates and the materials shared in each session.

  •     Be between the ages of 18-25.

  • Have time to provide 5 to 8 hours a week between October 15 and December 15. 

  • Have a demonstrated interest and commitment to building the power of communities of color and to mutual liberation and solidarity.

  • An interest in taking tools and skills back to your campus and/or community.

What is the application and selection process?

  1. Please fill out the application form below and submit your resume to solidarityiscampaign@gmail.com by October 4th.

  2. We will reach out for phone interviews with selected candidates during the week of October 4th.

  3. Final decisions will be made by October 12th.

Is the internship compensated?

 

Yes! Interns will receive a stipend from the Building Movement Project. Interns must submit a W9 form and commit to meeting the expectations of BMP and the host organization.
